Vivid Insight (VI) has been invited by Debswana Diamond Company to submit a proposal to provide Consultancy Services for the Impact Assessment of selected Corporate Social Investment (CSI) flagship projects; monitoring of Debswana sponsored projects; assist in facilitating Debswana Volunteerism Procedure/Initiatives; and assist in the closure of control self-assessment actions.

Project Challenging Story

Projects Impact Assessment

Twenty-two projects have been identified for socio-economic impact assessment and these fall within the jurisdiction of the three Debswana sites, namely: the Debswana Corporate Centre, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines.

The Consultant will develop questionnaires using agreed impact and process indicators to be administered to the project coordinators, implementers and beneficiaries. There will also be a questionnaire for Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) to include community leaders, Social and Community Development workers (government, NGOs and CBOs) to be undertaken as appropriate.

Debswana will provide all relevant documents to VI for the literature review. These include annual Reports to Stakeholders, project proposals, project reports, monitoring and evaluation reports, audited statements, etc. Debswana will also provide contact persons to facilitate the impact assessment.

Projects Monitoring

The project monitoring process will mainly feature site visits to the projects Debswana want monitored. Debswana and VI will agree on the key indicators of progress for each project to be monitored and evaluated. These would have been agreed upon by Debswana and the project coordinators, implementers or beneficiaries as per the requirements of the CSI Toolkit.

All site visits will be undertaken in strict compliance to the CSI Toolkit.

Control self-assessment actions

Three Debswana Site Sustainability Committees will be trained on the effective use of the CSI Toolkit. The training will be conducted virtually with each of the three sessions lasting a maximum four hours. It will focus on areas of the Toolkit that would have been identified as challenging by the Site Suscoms.

Assist in facilitating Debswana Volunteerism Procedure/Initiatives

Debswana employees regularly undertake volunteer work to assist deserving communities or charitable organisations. Debswana would like to assist in strengthening this noble gesture by ensuring employees support deserving organisations and that the projects are monitored and evaluated.
